Satellogic
How will we feed 9 billion people? How will we supply energy for the next era of technology? How can we use natural ecosystems to restore environments? Satellogic's mission is to solve the world's most pressing problems by building an accurate and up-to-date picture of our planet and the many forces that reshape it every day. In this presentation I will share how we could achieve this goal by deploying a constellation of earth observation satellites. I will explain the fundamentals, detail our particular approach, describe the role that the optics team plays and share my personal journey.
Martín Diego Bordenave is a doctor in physical sciences with 11+ years of experience in the development of cutting-edge optical projects. Martín worked at the department of NanoBiophotonics from the Max Plank Institute for Biophysical Chemistry in Göttingen, Germany where he developed a new scheme of Stimulated Emission Depletion (STED) nanoscopy that added further flexibility for implementation and applications. Then, he was involved in the design and implementation of a new nanoscopy laboratory in the Center for Bionanoscience Research at the National Scientific and Technical Research Council in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where he built the first STED nanoscope in Latin America, which has been successfully applied to investigate and elucidate biophysical questions with unprecedented spatial resolution. Currently he is working in the satellite engineering department of Satellogic, a vertically integrated geospatial analytics company, where he manages R&D optical design projects with agile methodologies, develops novel camera and image sensor systems with commercial off-the-shelf components, characterizes satellite radiometry for enhancing image products and oversees the feasibility of proposals involving optical payloads for space missions, among other responsibilities.
