CIBION researchers lectured about oncologic treatment

Two CIBION researchers attended an important event in which they presented part of their work in the laboratory.

PHD candidates María Silvina Olivera and Oriana Beraldi, members of Cibion’s Supramolecular Chemistry Group, lectured their researches during the 46° Annual Meeting of the Argentine Asociation of Nuclear Technology (AATN).

The young scientists presented the abstract and the first essays of their work. In a few words, their research consists on the detection and treatment of tumor cells. Thus, Olivera and Beraldi focused on the incorporation into cells of a BODIPY-based fluorescent probe, functionalized with a boron cluster for application in Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT). This modality of cancer treatment is in the clinical trial stage in different parts of the world, including Argentina.

The XLVI Annual Meeting of the AATN took place between December 19th and 22nd. Professionals, students and scientists that has to be with nuclear area assisted to the event.
